Every conflict throughout the world today has one common denominator, Islam. With just cursory knowledge of current events, it’s unmistakable; every ongoing conflict in the world today involves Muslims. From the Taliban’s destruction of the ancient Buddha’s in Afghanistan; to the massacres of thousands of Hindus in India; From the Madrid train attack, to the nightclub in Bali; explosions in London; Abu Sayyaf insurgency in the Philippines; wars on the African continent; Somalia; fighting in Lebanon; 9/11; the horror of Mumbai; the shelling of Sderot. Why is this so? To the left wingers in this country and abroad, all fingers seem to point at Israel.

Now the new Messiah will send Mitchell over to the Middle East on a listening tour and once again he will urge Israel to make more land for peace concessions with 7th century people that see the destruction of the Jewish state as their version of peace. Whom should Israel negotiate with, the new good guys, Fatah? Having lost an election to Hamas and kicked out of Gaza by these terrorists, they hold no sway. Perhaps Israel should negotiate with the Hamas which is sworn to her destruction and has written a charter based upon the teachings of the Qur’an:

The Charter contains thirty six articles which are replete with religious references such as: “… most of them are evil-doers… They will not harm you save a trifling hurt, and if they fight against you they will turn and flee:“ It goes on to outline the Qur’an as their constitution and makes further references, such as: “Surat Al-Imran (III), verses 109-111 Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors.” While he’s on the plane, Mitchell might consider reading Article 7 of this hateful text: “Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!” Doesn’t seem like much room for peace here.

In the year 2000, Arafat, the nephew of the virulent anti-Jew the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and founder of Fatah was offered everything for peace but turned it down in favor of the second intafada. What will it take for the geniuses in Washington and the majority of the readers of this newspaper to understand that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians has little to do about Palestinian statehood? That could have been accomplished equitably between U.N. mandated partition in 1947 and the 6 Day War which the Arabs brought upon Israel in 1967. The Muslim conflict with Israel and with the rest of the progressive world for that matter has to do with subjugation of the “unbelievers;” in effect, everyone else.
